Unlike defects such as crazing or shrinkage that stem from formulation ratios, black specks are a contamination issue — the offending particle simply melts, oxidizes, or chars in place during firing, leaving a visible mark that no firing schedule adjustment can prevent once it's in the body. Prevention happens entirely upstream, at mining, washing, and milling.

CAUSE 01
