𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿:

And we understand why. Higher Na₂O means:
→ More aggressive early melt
→ Lower viscosity glass phase
→ Faster vitrification onset
For some applications — certain frit formulations, fast-fire tile bodies, specific glaze systems — that is exactly right.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲:
Na₂O has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than K₂O. When Na₂O dominates, the glassy phase runs hotter and more aggressively — but it also runs 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿.

Sodium-rich feldspars consistently fire to a slightly warmer, less brilliant white. Potassium-rich feldspars produce a cooler, brighter, more neutral white — which is why K-feldspar is preferred in sanitaryware, porcelain tableware, and high-whiteness tile bodies.
